About Folarin Odunubi
Folarin is an Associate in the Corporate team of our Global Transactions Practice in Dubai.
He advises clients across a range of sectors on cross-border private and public M&A transactions, equity capital market transactions, as well as general corporate advisory and listed company matters.
He has a particular focus on advising financial sponsors, including private equity investors, sovereign wealth funds and their investee companies, on domestic and cross-border transactions.
Prior to Dubai, Folarin was based in the firm’s London office for over three years.
Recent work
Folarin's experience includes representing:
- Saint-Gobain on the acquisition of the Fosroc Group, a leading global construction chemicals player for $1.025 billion (approximately €960 million) from the JMH Group.
- A consortium of investors on the acquisition of Gulf Energy Maritime PJSC (GEM), a leading, independent product/chemical tanker company which provides marine transportation for the energy markets across the world, from Emirates National Oil Company, International Petroleum Investment Company and OQ (formerly known as Oman Oil Company).
- Catalyst Investment Management on the disposal of its interests in solar and wind farm plants in Jordan and Egypt to China Three Gorges International Limited, a subsidiary of China Three Gorges Corporation.
- Development Partners International and Amethis on their investment in Marcryl, a leading pharmaceutical manufacturer in Africa.
- The shareholders of Alcazar Energy (including IFC and Mubadala Infrastructure Partners) on the sale of Alcazar Energy (the leading renewable platform in MENA with a production capacity in excess of 400MW) to a consortium led by China Three Gorges Corporation.
- Apis, Development Partners International and Lorax on the purchase of their minority stake in MNT, the holding company for Mashroey and Tasaheel (the market leaders in the consumer finance and microfinance sectors in Egypt), as well as Halan, the leading ride hailing app in Egypt.
- Entain plc on its takeover defence against the approach by DraftKings Inc.
- Ted Baker plc on its acquisition by Authentic Brands Group.
- SSE plc on the acquisition of a majority interest in an offshore wind JV in Japan with Pacifico Energy.
