Financial services
We are not authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority. However, we are included on the register maintained by the Financial Conduct Authority so that we can carry on insurance distribution activity, which is broadly the advising on, selling and administration of insurance contracts. This part of our business, including arrangements for complaints or redress if something goes wrong, is regulated by the SRA. This register can be accessed via the Financial Conduct Authority website at www.fca.org.uk/firms/financial-services-register.
If we provide a service which includes the carrying on of an insurance distribution activity, we will do so as an ancillary insurance intermediary. However, where we do carry on insurance distribution activities, ordinarily these are limited to arranging contracts of insurance.
We can also undertake certain activities in relation to other investments which are limited in scope and incidental to our legal services or which may reasonably be regarded as a necessary part of our legal services.
Professional indemnity insurance
Our participating insurers are QBE Europe SA NV and QBE UK Limited (both of 30 Fenchurch St, London, EC3M 3BD) under policy number FINPL2350141. The firm’s compulsory professional indemnity insurance cover extends to acts or omissions arising out of the firm’s professional business wherever in the world they occur. Additional insurance is provided by multiple different insurers, including various underwriters at Lloyd’s, London, and other commercial professional indemnity insurers.

Complaints
We are committed to providing the highest quality of service. If you are a client and you have any concerns or complaints about any of the services we provide to you, we would like to discuss them with you and try to resolve them as soon as possible. Initially, we suggest that you contact the person responsible for the particular matter. However, if you do not want to do that or if your discussions with that person do not resolve your issues, then the firm has a complaints procedure, a copy of which is available to clients on request.
If the matter is still not resolved at the conclusion of our complaints process, you may be entitled to apply to the court for an assessment of a bill under Part III of the Solicitors Act 1974 and/or to ask the Legal Ombudsman of England and Wales (LeO) to consider your complaint. Normally you would need to contact the LeO:
- within six months of the conclusion of our complaints process; and
- no more than one year from the date of act/omission; or
- no more than one year from when you should reasonably have known there was cause for complaint.
You can contact the LeO by telephone on 0300 555 0333 (or +44 121 245 3050, if calling from outside the UK), by email at enquiries@legalombudsman.org.uk or by post at PO Box 6167, Slough, SL1 0EH. Details about eligibility to complain to the LeO and further information on the procedures involved can be found at www.legalombudsman.org.uk.
If you have concerns about our behaviour you can raise these directly with the SRA. Further information is available at www.sra.org.uk/consumers/problems/report-solicitor/.
